This year marks the 60th birthday of the Dubuque County Fair, which will be happening July 23rdthrough the 28th, a mere 7 minutes from our Dubuque hotel!
Nightly concerts will include famous acts like Bridget Mendler, Daughtry, and All-American Rejects.Tickets for these awesome acts range from $30 to $40 and can be purchased here. Admission to the fair will be $9 for adults and free for kids under 11 year sold. On Thursday, if you’re in by 3 PM, admission is free! Alternatively, youcan purchase ticket books for a group of six for $45 dollars atvarious locations in Iowa. Ride bracelets will cost $23 daily.
Along with concerts, the Dubuque County Fair will also have rides, and indoor and outdoor festival areas where many events and contests will take place. There will be a draft horse pull, a tractor pull, a derby at the festival racetrack! Enter in the Lego contest, or the county Rabbit show, or even the BBQ cookoff and show off your skills or your furry little friends!
This fair is one of the oldest and most successful events in the county and depends on the supportof its community. Sponsors range from small local businesses to larger corporations like Bud Light. The Dubuque County fair is famous for its obstacle courses. The Barnyard Charge consists of two obstacle courses, the Chicken Run and the Sloppy Pig. The Chicken Run is for any age participant and is under 2 miles in length with 6 obstacles, while the Sloppy Pig is limited to participants aged 12 and over, with 12 obstacles and is approximately 3 miles in length.
